American Humane Association Event | |
 Classic
Collections is pleased to announce that we are supporting the American
Humane Association's annual Palm Beach Event. This year, the AHA will be
hosting the event at Mar-a-Lago on March 7th and will be joined
by Hollywood "Royalty" to help build a better and more compassionate
world for children and animals.

Receiving the National
Humanitarian Medal honor is Broadway producer, author and "First Lady of
TV", Candy Spelling. Joining the event will be Emmy Award-Nominated
actress Michelle Forbes, "The Bachelor: Rome" star Prince Lorenzo
Borghese and canine supermodel, Princess Zelda! There will be a
reception and silent auction preview at 11:30 am followed by luncheon at
Noon. The cost for this dazzling day is only $200 and proceeds go
toward all of the furry friends that we love so dearly!

While the Westminster Dog Show certainly is the gold standard for dog

 The
one thing we CAN thank the Presidents of the United States for is the
big weekend when we all get to shop for bargains. Well, not to be
outdone, Classic Collections will be offering most of our winter stock
at sale prices that range from 20% to 50% off from Feb.17th through
Feb.29th! This will include some simply stunning coats, sweaters, winter
skirts and pant suits, furs, handbags, shoes and boots ...all available
at a fraction of the original cost!

TRAVELS FOR TREASURES! | |
The
last month has been hectic with 3 different trips to find new treasures
for Classic Collections. On a recent trip to New York, we were
impressed by visits to several designer re-sale boutiques that we had
toured before. Speaking with the owner of one old and famous
establishment on Madison Avenue, we learned that they strictly adhere to
the "Pick Up After Contract" rule. With NYC space at a minimum, there
simply is no place to store merchandise and it is donated or given away
10 days after the pick-up time expires! While
Classic Collections aims to be more accommodating, we shall begin enforcing our pick up rules by gently
insisting that our consigners collect their merchandise in a timely
fashion. Otherwise, several worthy local charities will benefit from our
donations...which, when you think about it, is a good thing!

Our Los Angeles trip was a major success! We visited a world renowned
private jewelry dealer and are currently representing their marvelous
merchandise at Classic Collections. We can say with great confidence
that this association will provide our customers with unique and
beautiful baubles for many seasons to come!

We also had the
pleasure of having dinner with some lovely ladies in Beverly Hills.
Shelly Sterling, real estate maven (she owns the Beverly Hills Plaza
Hotel where we stayed-a simply wonderful home away from home) and owner
(with husband Donald) of the LA Clippers, is a smart, savvy and engaging
woman who was absolutely effusive as a result of the Clippers recent victories!

sunny personality and effervescent outlook make this artistic and
creative lady a pleasure to be with. Certainly, the stunning evening
bags she is so well known for grace many a red carpet in this celebrity
studded town.
A dear friend and
great supporter of Classic Collections, Terry Ebert Mendoza arranged
this evening as well as a fabulous dinner party with Hutton Wilkinson,
the world-famous designer and the new creative jewelry genius behind
(handbag company)

Coach's entry into
the costume jewelry business (see February Harper's Bazaar, pg. 82). We
toured Hutton's mountain compound (established with the infamous cult
designer and business partner, the late Tony Duquette) and marveled at
his new incredible, stylish and lavish home on the grounds of
"Dawnridge". We had a memorable and superb time with his entertaining
guests and lovely wife, Ruth.
Then last week, we
had the pleasure of touring the wonderful wineries that are scattered
around the picturesque town of Healdsburg, California. Naturally,
between the majestic vineyards of Francis Ford Coppola, Dry Creek,
Rodney Strongwater, "J" and others, we managed to find time to peruse
some of the area's consignment shops. While interesting, they are
definitely more 'funky' than what you are used to here in Palm Beach and
at Classic Collections. Not an Hermes or Chanel handbag to be
found....but, really, who cared? The wine was flowing non-stop and
frankly was simply deVINE!!! Ha Ha!
